Youzhny ousted in Gstaad quarters

07/30/2010 - Gstaad, Switzerland (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Top seed Mikhail Youzhny was a quarterfinal upset victim Friday at the Swiss Open Gstaad.

Qualifier Yuri Schukin upended his world No. 14 fellow Russian Youzhny 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 in 2 hours, 12 minutes on the clay courts at Roy Emerson Arena.

Second-seeded Nicolas Almagro of Spain avoided an upset by handling France's Jeremy Chardy 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) on Day 6.

Almagro will meet Daniel Gimeno-Traver in an all-Spanish semifinal here on Saturday, after Gimeno-Traver dismissed quality Russian Igor Andreev 6-2, 6-4 on Friday.

Another upset, albeit a mild one, came when seventh-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet grounded fourth-seeded Spaniard Albert Montanes 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Montanes titled in Stuttgart two weeks ago. Gasquet was the Gstaad champ back in 2006.

The former top-10 star Gasquet will battle the 147th-ranked Schukin on Saturday.
